Donor-Established
Endowment
A Donor-Established Endowment offers a meaningful way to create a lasting legacy of faith and generosity in support of the ministries and charities that matter most to you. These agreements can be funded during the life of the donor, or through a testamentary gift from your trust or estate plan.
Important Information about Endowments
Irrevocable
Contributions to qualifying endowments are considered irrevocable charitable gifts. Once made, they cannot be returned or redirected for personal use.
Income
Income from an endowment is either reinvested or granted to charitable beneficiaries—it cannot be distributed back to the donor(s) or their heirs.
Termination
Endowments are intended to be lasting gifts, designed to provide ongoing support to charitable causes and, as such, are generally not subject to termination.
Dear Friends,
An endowment is a powerful way to support the causes you care about—faithfully, consistently, and for generations to come. Whether you’re passionate about education, healthcare, or specific Adventist ministries, an endowment allows you to make a lasting impact by creating a reliable source of charitable funding.
By establishing a Donor-Established Endowment through Western Adventist Foundation, your gift is invested for long-term growth, with annual distributions supporting the mission areas closest to your heart. It’s a meaningful way to reflect your values and create a legacy of generosity that lives on.
Why Donors Choose Endowments:
-
Permanent Impact: Endowments are designed to last forever, with the principal preserved and only the investment income distributed.
-
Personalized Purpose: Name your fund in honor of a loved one or designate it for a specific ministry, school, or mission area.
-
Reliable Support: Adventist institutions depend on endowments to sustain their work year after year.
-
Tax Benefits: Contributions may be tax-deductible, depending on your financial situation and the type of asset given.
-
Planned Giving Potential: Fund your endowment now or through your estate as part of your legacy strategy.
-
Administrative Ease: WAF handles investment oversight, compliance, and ensures that distributions follow your intent.
-
Custom Oversight: You may appoint a governing body to help guide recipient eligibility and uphold your vision.
-
Testamentary Funding: Your endowment can be fully funded through a gift from your trust or estate plan.
