Donor Advised Fund
(DAF)

A Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) allows individuals or families to support ministry over time with flexibility and purpose. Established with an Adventist charity or directly with WAF, a DAF provides immediate tax benefits, while giving donors the ability to recommend grants to their chosen ministries whenever they’re ready to give.

Important Information about DAFs

Irrevocable

Donations to DAF accounts are treated as charitable gifts, and cannot be undone.

Income

Income generated within a DAF is added to the principal and cannot be distributed to the donor(s).

Termination

The DAF will terminate based on the terms of the agreement, successor advisors to the original donor(s) are permitted.

Dear Friends,

A Donor Advised Fund (DAF) lets you contribute to a charitable account, receive an immediate tax deduction, and recommend grants to ministries and nonprofits over time. It’s an ideal choice for those who want to support causes they care about—on their own timeline.

With a DAF you can give with purpose while enjoying ease, flexibility, and tax benefits. Whether you’re donating cash or appreciated assets, your contribution grows tax-free, and your giving can extend over years—no need to worry about a specific financial deadline or creating a short-term goal.

Why Donors Choose DAFs:

  • Immediate Tax Deduction: Claim a charitable deduction in each year you give to your DAF.

  • Tax-Free Growth: Any investment returns stay in your fund to increase future giving.

  • Grant Flexibility: Recommend grants to qualified charities when it fits your goals.

  • No Annual Payout Rules: Unlike private foundations, there’s no minimum distribution requirement.

  • Simple Administration: No tax filings, no legal complexity—just focused, intentional giving.

If you’ve made Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs) in the past or want a long-term plan for charitable giving, a DAF can offer the freedom and structure that you'll need to fund the work that is important to you today and in the future.
